Measuring Vulnerability: Workshop on the Methodological Challenge

The first international workshop entirely organized by the NCCR LIVES will be held on 18 and 19 June 2012 at the University of Lausanne. It aims to forge a dialogue between specialists of different methodologies in order to seek synergies in the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.

One of the objectives of the National Center for Competence in Research LIVES - Overcoming vulnerability, life course perspective (NCCR LIVES) is to develop new methods in social sciences to survey populations in a longitudinal way and assess the vulnerability on a multidimensional basis.

The symposium will bring together specialists of the NCCR LIVES and invited speakers from UK and Germany, on the following topics:

  1. Surveying national minorities
  2. Surveying young people
  3. At adult age, documenting the complex interactions between work and family life
  4. The peculiar challenges of surveying the elderly and long life courses

It will be held on 18 and 19 June 2012 at Internef Building, University of Lausanne, room 143, from 9:00 to 17:30. See the full program below.
